Phishing

Fraudsters may send you an email that looks like it has come from Prescott Federal Credit Union. These emails ask you to go to a website through a link within the email. The website may also look like Prescott Federal Credit Union’s website, and there you will be asked to provide your confidential information.

This is called “Phishing” or “Spoofing” and it is the most common type of online fraud. Fraudsters send these Phishing messages to a large list of random email addresses, hoping to reach a few members with the email. The Spoof websites are designed to steal personal and financial information.

It is very important to remember that Prescott Federal Credit Union never asks for personal information through the email or by phone.

If you have responded to a Phishing Scam Email, please contact the credit union.

Introducing:             VIRTUAL BRANCH!

Prescott Federal Credit Union is introducing Virtual Branch Online Banking that gives you 24-hour account access through the Internet.

This is a free service, with no monthly service fees!  All you will need to get started is your account number.  If you are already using Prescott Federal Credit Union’s online banking, you will need to re-enroll.

Once you sign in successfully, be sure to change your temporary password.  Use a password that is 7 to 15 characters in length (both letters and numbers may be used).  Passwords are case sensitive, which means that Federal, federal, and FeDeraL are all different passwords.  Try to use a mixture of letters and numbers to create a password that cannot be found in a dictionary.

Account Access

In Account Access you can set up automatic transfers.  These transfers can go from checking to your PFCU loans or savings; from savings to checking or PFCU loans; etc.  You will need your most current statement to set up these transfers.

Alerts:  Under Self Service you can set up automatic notification for when a specific check clears or when your balance reaches a certain amount.  You can also receive daily balance information or send yourself a reminder on a preset time and date.  Alerts help keep you on track easily and securely.

Personal Options:  Keep your personal information up to date by managing your online banking profile including your user ID, password, and e-mail address.

Security Information:  Use the enhanced security features in online banking to select user names and passwords by following the instructions in the Security Information section.  To prevent others from gaining access to accounts online, frequently change online passwords.  Use the greatest variety of characters possible in your passwords (letters, numbers, symbols).

eStatements:  Electronic delivery of your monthly statement is the quickest, most secure method of statement delivery.  An email is sent when your statement is ready to view, download or print.   Be sure to keep your email address updated in the Personal Options section of home banking.

Other tips for Virtual Branch

    • Avoid using your browser’s “Back” button to navigate the Virtual Branch site.  Because Virtual Branch is a secure website, it does not react the same way to the Back button as other non-secure sites.  As a result of using the Back button, you might get various error messages or be unable to finish a transaction properly.  Use the menu buttons to move around within the site.
    • Memorize your password, and do not write it down.  Never give your password to anyone or let them watch you enter it.  When you are done with Virtual Branch or if you need to leave the computer, always sign off.
